Day 28/52
I choose not to say a word, because I’m hit on target
To be alone, for I’m betrayed
To stay silent, because I’m hurt
To erase the memories, for they make me cry
To move on, since I can’t stay
To let go, and learn how to fly.

This poem was written years ago by young me…memories I should say.
I look back and say, he was quite a writer and poet, he should watch me today, see what his protégé has become (smiles on my face).
I happen to be re reading a book I love, “Tuesdays with Morrie” and at some point, when they are talking about emotions, Morrie says, that in order to detach ourselves from an emotion, we’ve got to let it in, we’ve got to feel it. This in so many ways is like a pick up line from “The fault in our stars” that I often use, ‘Pain demands to be felt”.
If we want to go through something, we’ve got to experience it. Poetry isn’t any different. For every emotion and style a poet(ess) uses, whether sarcastic, rebellious, grief… in that moment of jotting down a poem, editing and proof reading, they let themselves feel the power of what they’ve written. In order to feel the words, they let themselves experience their power.
For this piece, young me focused on rhythm, rhyme, diction, repetition and some bit of imagery. Not bad I should say for a young poet.
Pain demands to be felt
