Day 7/52
Hey little witty cute soul that keeps running in my mind…
Ever wondered what life is when I’m exploring you
It feels like my life is a reflection arc when I’m around you
For the dry Savannahs seem wet, and I not thinking straight in your presence
Coz the sight of you gets me dazed and confused, not knowing the difference between right and wrong
And yet I still stand up straight and chase after you amidst all the confusion
For I guess we feel like parallel lines that never meet yet are attracted to each other
For even as parallel lines, we still defeat all rules of geometry and find a way to walk together, like soul mates holding hands… Same way princesses can make princes out of ordinary men.
But I fear for our hearts, with your spongy one that feels nothing of what is right for it, the writings on the wall remain a mystery.
But may be even the walls saw right through the mysteries, right through your fears, your spongy heart, and whisper to your soul…
love is a bitter beautiful thing.
______________________________
This is by far one of the best pieces I’ve featured someone close to me, the very first I worked on with my lady (obviously within the year, sometime last month). Well, I love it for as I go through it, I feel the emotions in it flow, must have been pretty real by the time we jotted it down.
But anyways, straight up, if you read through, between the lines, there is a sense of two personas being part of the piece, more like a dialogue between two voices (I really hope you can feel it) and that’s just it. Every piece always has a voice that speaks out to an audience. Spoken or written, every poetry piece carries this sense, and it’s just what may make it stand out, or not.
That voice speaks volumes, it may entice your reader & audience, or it may push them away. Well, I guess I’m just trying to say mind the voice that’s speaking within your piece, for it creates a whole big difference between mastery of the art, and forcing the art.
